In MoneyCoach, the default account for new transactions is called your Favorite Account. Select Favorite Account from the Accounts list and MoneyCoach will automatically use that account when you add a new transaction, use Quick Entry, or add a transaction from the Apple Watch app.
Step-by-step guide
- Open MoneyCoach
- On the Accounts card, tap the "View All" button
- On the Accounts list, swipe left on the account you want to use by default
- Tap "More"
- Select "Favorite Account"
- Open the New Transaction screen or Quick Entry
Now your Favorite Account will be preselected, so you can save routine transactions faster.
When to use a Favorite Account
Use a Favorite Account when most of your daily spending comes from the same account, wallet, or card. This saves a tap every time you add a transaction because MoneyCoach can preselect the account for you.
This is especially useful when you want to:
- Add everyday expenses from your main checking account
- Use Quick Entry for routine purchases
- Add transactions from your Apple Watch without choosing the same account every time
- Pair it with a favorite category so a transaction can be saved quickly
For example, if most of your spending happens from your debit card account, mark that account as your Favorite Account. The next time you add a transaction, MoneyCoach can open with that account already selected, so you only need to enter the amount, category, and save.
Additional information
You can still choose a different account for any transaction. In the New Transaction guide, the account can be changed by tapping the "Account" button before saving.
If you want to use another account as your default later, repeat the same steps from the Accounts list and select "Favorite Account" on the account you want to use next.
If you also want to edit, delete, or organize accounts and categories, see How To Manage Your Accounts, Categories and Subcategories.
