Manage a property loan in MoneyCoach by creating a clear payoff target, recording the recurring repayment, and reviewing progress regularly. MoneyCoach helps you plan and track the loan, while your lender statement remains the official source for interest, fees, and remaining balance.
TL;DR
- Create a Smart Goal or loan-style account for the loan.
- Add the scheduled repayment as a repeating transaction or repeating transfer.
- Turn on reminders.
- Review progress monthly.
- Reconcile against the lender statement when needed.
Step-by-step guide
1. Create the loan target
Use a Smart Goal when you want a payoff target or a visible savings plan.
- Open the Smart Goals card from Overview.
- Tap the + button.
- Enter the goal name, such as
House Loan. - Enter the loan target or payoff amount you want to track.
- Add a deadline if you have a payoff date.
- Tap Save.
When a Smart Goal has a deadline, MoneyCoach can show how much progress is needed to stay on track.
2. Add the repayment schedule
- Open the goal or loan account you are using for tracking.
- Add a deposit, transaction, or transfer that represents the repayment.
- Enter the repayment amount.
- Select the account the money leaves.
- Make it repeating on the same schedule as your loan payment.
- Set the start date and end date if you know them.
- Turn on Reminders if you want a notification before payment day.
- Save.
Use a transfer if you track the loan as its own account. Use an expense if you only want the monthly payment to appear as spending.
3. Review against the lender statement
Property loans can include interest, fees, escrow, rate changes, and lender-side adjustments. Review your MoneyCoach tracking against your lender statement from time to time and adjust the balance if needed.
