From Europe to the US, or the other way. The old account stays open and the new one joins it. You want one net worth, not two banking apps.
Part of the year in the US, part in Europe. You want to see spending in dollars and euros, and one total.
Expat on assignment or digital nomad. You want to know what you have overall, whatever the currency.
For each connection, you pick the bank’s country first. MoneyCoach then uses the matching provider: Plaid for the US, GoCardless for Europe.
You search for your bank inside the country you picked. There is no single search across US and European banks.
Both connections land in the same profile, next to manual accounts and cash.
US and European connections count toward the same bank connection allowance of your plan. The app shows the allowance.
Each account keeps its own currency. For totals and reports, MoneyCoach converts balances into your main currency (base currency). Foreign-currency transactions show the converted amount and keep the original amount.
Set the main currency in Settings > General > Main Currency.
A €50.00 card payment in Germany shows as $55.00 and still shows the €50.00.
One missing bank does not have to break the overview. Add it as a manual account in its own currency. You update the balance yourself, and MoneyCoach still converts it into your main currency.
Many banks let you export transactions as a CSV file. MoneyCoach can import CSV files.
A simple order of steps for a move between the US and Europe.
Connect the accounts you are leaving behind while you have everything for your bank’s sign-in at hand. Each connection is confirmed with your bank’s own sign-in.
European connections run for a period the bank sets. In the GoCardless data (as of 24 Aug 2026), almost every European bank allows up to 180 days. After that, you renew the connection with your bank’s sign-in. Make sure your bank’s verification still works abroad, for example if you give up a phone number.
When the new account is open, connect it. US connections start on iPhone or iPad. Both accounts show in the same profile.
If you now spend mostly in euros, set the main currency to euros. Accounts keep their own currency; only the totals change.
Track accounts that cannot connect as manual accounts. Your net worth stays complete.
Use these on any app, including MoneyCoach. No download needed.
Yes. MoneyCoach can show US accounts through Plaid and European accounts through GoCardless in the same profile. You need Premium or Premium Max, and coverage depends on the bank and the account.
Yes, if your bank is supported through Plaid. US connections are started on iPhone or iPad. Your European accounts can join the same profile through GoCardless. Make sure your bank’s sign-in and verification still work from abroad.
Each account keeps its currency. For totals and reports, MoneyCoach converts into your main currency. Foreign-currency transactions keep their original amount.
