Adding an account is one of the first things most people do in MoneyCoach. The current flow lets you choose between a manual account and the online banking path, so you can start with the setup that matches your data.
TL;DR
- Go to Accounts and tap + to create a new account.
- Choose Manual account for direct setup, or Link bank account for supported bank sync.
- Use clear account names and correct account types (including credit cards) for cleaner reports and imports.
Step-by-step guide
- Open the Accounts tab.
- Tap the + button.
- Choose how you want to start:
- Manual account if you want to enter the account yourself.
- Link bank account if you want to connect a supported bank and import data through online banking.

Create a manual account
- Choose Manual account.
- Fill in the main account details:
- Type, for example a normal account or another account type that fits what you are tracking
- Name and account icon
- Actual Balance
- Group, if you already use account groups
- Check the extra fields before saving:
- Currency may be locked depending on your setup. If you need accounts in different currencies, see How To Use Multi Currency.
- Turn on Business Account only when this account belongs to your business tracking.
- Save the account.

That is enough to start tracking transactions immediately.
If you are adding a credit card, choose the credit card account type so MoneyCoach can track card balances and payment flow correctly. Then continue with How To Track and Manage Credit Cards.
Link a bank account instead
If you choose Link bank account, MoneyCoach will open the online banking flow instead of the manual account editor.
Use that path when you want MoneyCoach to sync supported bank data automatically. Availability depends on your region, your bank, and your current plan.
If you want the full bank-link flow, follow this guide next:
Common mistakes
- Picking the wrong account type during setup (for example, not selecting credit card when needed).
- Using unclear account names that make reporting harder later.
- Expecting online banking to be available without checking region/bank/plan support.
Good setup advice
- Create the accounts you actively use first.
- Use clear names so imported transactions and reports are easier to understand later.
- If you are migrating from another app, you can create the account first and then import its history from Settings > Import & Export.
- Some advanced account capabilities, such as certain account types or multi-currency editing, may depend on Premium.
